What is Chaas Masala ?
Chaas masala is a flavourful Indian spices blend that is used to make masala chaas, raita and different chaat. Chaas Masala aka Jeeralu – A very flavorful Indian digestive spice blend. The drink is healthier than juices and other drinks.
Pre-packaged chaas masala is readily and easily available in grocery stores, but nothing can beat the flavors of homemade chaas masala. In chaas masala, all dry spices are lightly roasted and then grind it into fine powder.
It is stored at room temperature in an air-tight container. It stays good for up to a year. It is easy to make and with this masala, you can make masala chaat in just 2 minutes.

Ingredients used to prepare Chaas Masala Recipe :
- Black Salt – 50 gms
- Dhana – 100 gms
- Cumin Seed – 150 gms
- Corriander Leaf – Few
- Mint Leaf – Few
- Black Pepper – 04 tsp
- Salt – 50 gms
- Ajma – 04 tsp
Process of preparing Chaas no Masala Recipe:

In a pan roast the Cumin seeds, Dhana, Black Pepper seed & Ajwain on low flame.

Then add Corriander leaf & Mint leaf in the same pan. I have dried the corriander & mint leaf before making the masala under fan at home so that the leaf are not wet. Dry roast them until the leaf turns crispy & you get the nice aroma.

Take it out into a plate and cool it down.

Now in a mixture jar, add species mixture and grind it.

Sieve the grinded mixture.

Then add black salt & salt in the grinded mixture & mix well.

Chaas masala is ready. store it in an airtight container.
Process of preparing Buttermilk (Chaas):

In a mixing bowl, add 1 cup curd, 2 tsp chaas masala, and 2 glass of water. grind it.

Masala chaas is ready.

Some Tips for Chaas no Masala:
- Dry roast dry spices on low-medium flame.
- Sieve grinded mixture to get a fine powder.
- Store masala in Airtight and dry bottle.
- Chaas masala is multipurpose, can be sprinkled on fruits, on salad, over a sandwich, or used in Lemonade. (Limbu Sharbat).
