Ingredients used to prepare Milk Burfi Recipe :
- Milk (full fat) – 1.5 litre
- Sugar – 250 gms
- Pistachios – 01 tsp
- Almonds – 01 tsp
- Cashew – 01 tsp
- Desi ghee – 02 tsp
Instructions for preparing Milk Burfi Recipe :
- Prepare the Pan and Grease: Grease a square or rectangular pan with a little ghee and set it aside. This will be used to set the burfi.
- Prepare the Milk Mixture: In a heavy-bottomed pan, add the milk and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Once it starts simmering, reduce the heat to low.
- Cook the Mixture: Keep stirring the mixture on low heat. It will start to thicken and come together as a dough-like consistency.
- Add Sugar: Add the sugar in 3 half intervals to the mixture and continue to stir. The mixture will start to loosen up again due to the sugar, but keep stirring until it thickens once more.
- Flavoring: Add the cardamom powder to the mixture and mix well. This will give the burfi a delightful aroma and flavor.
- Transfer to the Pan: Once the mixture reaches a thick, fudge-like consistency and starts to leave the sides of the pan, quickly transfer it to the greased pan. Flatten and smooth the surface with a spatula.
- Garnish: While the mixture is still warm, sprinkle the chopped nuts on top and gently press them down so they stick to the burfi.
- Allow to Set: Let the burfi cool down to room temperature. You can also place it in the refrigerator to speed up the setting process.
- Cut and Serve: Once the burfi is completely set, use a sharp knife to cut it into desired shapes – typically squares or diamonds. Gently remove the pieces from the pan.
