Ingredients used to prepare Manchurian Balls Recipe :

  • Spring Onion – 100 gms
  • Cabbage – 100 gms
  • Carrot – 100 gms
  • Capsicum – 100 gms
  • Onion – 100 gms
  • Corn Flour – 150 gms
  • Water – 02 tsp
  • Salt – 01 tsp
  • Groundnut oil – 02 tsp

Ingredients used to prepare Manchurian Gravy Recipe :

  • Spring Onion – 25 gms
  • Cabbage – 25 gms
  • Carrot – 25 gms
  • Capsicum – 25 gms
  • Onion – 25 gms
  • Corn Flour – 02 tsp
  • Tomato Sauce – 02 tsp
  • Soya Sauce – 02 tsp
  • Schezwan Sauce – 02 tsp
  • Salt – 01 tsp
  • Black pepper – 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic Paste – 01 tsp
  • Ginger & Green Chilly paste – 01 tsp
  • Water – 250 ml
  • Groundnut oil – 04 tsp

Instructions for preparing Manchurian Balls:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine grated cabbage, grated carrot, chopped capsicum, spring onions, cornflour and salt.
  2. Mix well to form a dough-like consistency. You should be able to shape the dough into balls without it falling apart. If the mixture is too dry, you can add a little water, a teaspoon at a time, to bring it together.
  3. Once the dough is ready, shape it into small balls using your hands. You can use about a tablespoon of the mixture for each ball, but you can adjust the size according to your preference.
  4. Place the shaped balls on a plate or tray & let them rest for 5-10 mins. This will help them hold their shape better when frying.
  5. In the meantime, heat oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium heat. You’ll need enough oil to deep fry the balls.
  6. Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the Manchurian balls into the oil, a few at a time, using a slotted spoon. Be cautious to not overcrowd the pan.
  7. Fry the balls on medium heat until they turn golden brown and crispy. Flip them occasionally to ensure even frying.
  8. Once the balls are cooked, remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  9. Repeat the frying process with the remaining balls, adjusting the heat as needed to maintain the oil temperature.
  10. The Manchurian balls are now ready to be added to the gravy or served as a standalone snack or appetizer.

Instructions for preparing Manchurian Gravy:

  1. Heat oil in a wok or a deep pan on medium heat.
  2. Add garlic paste and ginger & green chilly paste, and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
  3. Add chopped spring onion whites (reserve the green parts for garnish), white onion, capsicum, carrots, and cabbage. Stir-fry on high heat for 2-3 minutes until the veggies are slightly tender yet crisp.
  4. Add soy sauce, tomato ketchup, and schezwan sauce to the wok. Mix well.
  5. In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water to form a slurry.
  6. Slowly pour the cornstarch slurry into the wok while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  7. Cook the gravy for a minute until it thickens to the desired consistency.
  8. Add salt and black pepper powder to taste. Mix well.
  9. Add the fried Manchurian balls into the gravy and gently toss them to coat them with the sauce.
